Crafty Me!

A sort of craft related post...! Here is me at the weekend crafting my little heart out!

The pic was taken by Mr Hannah who I realised I must post a picture of soon! I will get the Goodwood pics up tomorrow or Thursday....probably Thursday as it's Mr Hannah's Birthday tomorrow! Lots of nice presents and a few surprises for him planned. For those who don't know me very well I LOVE BIRTHDAY'S! Anyone's birthday...I just get so excited, I love 'em! Sooo...it's always a fun day :) On another note, I have to draw your attention to Mr Hannah's Blog which is here . He is a bit jealous that I have more followers than him hehe! He's only just started up though...he loves to build models and he's sold quite a few of them now (in order to buy me shoes hehe!) and I think they are really good! Take a look if you have a spare minute or two. Thanks!

Monochrome Thank You

I wanted to make a 'thank you' card for a lady at work who gave me free tickets to the opening night of the Goodwood Festivities on Friday. I had an absolute blast and it made a really nice change to do something like that. It was lovely to spend the evening outside listening to Beatles, Abba and Queen tribute bands and to top it off, amazing fireworks! Loved it. Was nice for Mr Hannah and I to spend some quality time together too...will try and post some pics up later this week. Anyway, onto the card! I was inspired by Susie's monochrome challenge over on Craftbubble and decided to stick with it for a classy looking 'thank you' card...
Backing Paper, Ribbon & embellishment are from Papermania
Button, Handmade Paper & White card from stash
Not sure where the sentiment is from!
Hope you like it!

One of those days....Great British Challenge

Well I've had one of those days where not much seems to have gone right with my card making! I guess we all have those days when we get a creative block! Lots seems to be going wrong in general at the moment so it is hard to stay positive...crafting seems to be my therapy so when that goes wrong I get very frustrated! Had a little cry with Mr Hannah earlier and feel a bit better...I've given up my card making for today so I think we'll just settle down to watch a film in a bit.

Anyway, after three attempts (and throwing 2 cards in the bin - there must be something wrong with me as I hate to throw stuff away!!) I came up with this Andy Warhol inspired card for the Great British Challenge over on Craftbubble. I've struggled with some of the challenges recently but I guess it is because I'm out of my comfort zone; which is good now and then but I do struggle! I've thought about this challenge for a while and just couldn't come up with anything unusual and then I thought of the Beatles and found this Andy Warhol image online and thought it was brill! I used a retro flower backing paper to go with a sixties feel and used some funky flowers to tie in with that theme. What do you think?

Papermania Retro Floral Pack (8 x 8)
Various parts of the backing paper coloured in using Glaze Pens (bought in the states for $7 which was the equivalent of about £4 at time of purchase hehe!)
Image from the net and coloured in using Glitz It glitter glue & marker using plain black gel pen
Flowers from GSC International

I wasn't that impressed with it to be honest but I'm sure you can gather that I was in one of those moods and I guess you can't be 100% with all your cards...or is that me!? :)

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and hasn't been as hormonal as me! Lol...I'll put it down to the heat ;o)

Stamp Mad Tag Challenge - June 09

Here is my entry for the June Stamp Mad Challenge over on Craftbubble - you had to use acetate OR peel-off's and since I don't have any acetate, I decided to use some peel'off's! I made this tag for a friend whose birthday it is next weekend. I was feeling quite summery with this heatwave we are currently having and as it's a July birthday, I thought this Tilda image would do the trick!

Papermania Cardstack Strips (Yellow & Blue)
Anita's Peel-off, Summer Selection (Gold)
Tilda Image was coloured using Cyan, Sky Blue, Yellow, Gold, Rose Pink, Ivory, Blush & Vanilla
For the water ripples I used Smooch Accent Ink (Azure)
Ribbons are from Hobbycraft
Gold Glitz It Glitter Glue for the inside of the shell
We R Memory Keeper's gold eyelet
Papermania Sentiment Stamps

Hope you like it!

Black & White Die Cut Challenge

Susie's Die Cut Challenge over on Craftbubble at the moment is Black and White. I've always been a fan of this colour combo and think you just can't go wrong with different patterns - seems to always look good (even if it does make your eyes go a bit funny at times!) So here is my card:

Here is a close up of the main part of the card:

Recipe for this card

Backing Papers from Papermania Monochrome Collection
Border made with handmade paper
Papers torn using Fiskars Tear Edger
Flower from Papermania
Ribbons and Button from Stash (with Papermania Brads used on larger buttons)

Hope you like this one - I really enjoyed making it! Think that is it for today, am feeling quite tired with all this heat so I think I'll be getting an early night! Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Promarker Challenge #5 - Lemon & Meadow Green

This is my entry for this week's Promarker Challenge using the challenge colours of Lemon & Meadow Green. I have actually made the card for a good friend of mine at work - last week she told me that she was 14 weeks pregnant! I was over the moon for her and am very excited. She told me the other day that somebody had given her a card saying congrats and I thought it would be a nice idea to give her one that I had hand-made. I think it would also be nice to get one before the birth as most baby cards you see are for when the baby has been born! Anyway, here it is (apologies for the poor pic, as I've explained previously I usually make my cards in the evening when the light is rubbish!):

Here is a close up of pregnant Tilda:

Really loved the colour combo this week! I must admit that it was alot easier than last week's however, I did enjoying making a simplified card for once! I think my favourite part are the cute little green stars as buttons for her shoes. I also like the butteflies and the button centres for the daisies. I can't wait to give it to her tomorrow - hope she likes it!

To make this card I used:

Paper from Daisy & Dandelion A5 Picnic Pack
DCWV Matchmakers 2 Mat Stack (Neutrals)
Hobbycraft Adhesive Ribbon
Buttons & Butterflies from Stash
Tilda image coloured in using Meadow Green, Apple, Lemon, Vanilla, Ivory, Blush, Pastel Pink, Blossom with the wings coloured with Pink Glitz It glitter glue

Boy it's hot!

Phew! Don't know about anyone else but I am feeling like I am about to MELT! Really want to make at least one card tonight as I have not made any since my mad rush last weekend. I realised that a few of the craftbubble challenges finish in a few days (where has June gone!) so need to finish those off. Anyway, hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine!

Wedding Themed Cards

I realised the other day that my card box at work was missing wedding themed cards (engagements, on your wedding day etc) so I made a few cards today to try and cover that area when people have a look through.

It's late now so I will list the card ingredients tomorrow when I am a bit more coherent. I've just come back from the cinema and only just managed to write my caterpillar post! Hope everyone has had a marvellous weekend...too bad it's Monday tomorrow :o(

Caterpillar Card

This Caterpillar card was another order for work (had three to do today!). She had no specifics really just that it was for her nephew William and he was 1...and this was what I came up with!

I had made the caterpillar using Mr Hannah's mum's cricut machine (which I have temporarily adopted!) before and really liked the layout I had used and colours. Hope you like it!

To make this card I used:

Die cuts using Cricut Machine coloured in with Green, Gold & Dark Blue Glitz It! Glitter Glue
Flowers & Ladybugs from stash
Green Felt from Papermania

Father's Day Cards

I had to make two Father's day card's today - one for myself, one for Mr Hannah's Dad. I made mine first (no.1) but struggled to get ideas for the second one but finally (after much rooting around in my ever expanding craft stash!) I found this wine bottle embellishment which met Mr Hannah's approval. Hurrah! Both cards have similar colour schemes which I think are fairly traditional but have funky details to bring out the best in each colour tone. Here is Card Number One (sounds like Blind Date hehe!)

And here is a close up of Tyroler Edwin coloured using promarkers

I love this image, think it is soooo cute!! Hope my Dad likes it too. Love the colour scheme on this card, especially loving the olive tone as I rarely manage to get that particular tone in my cards.

To make this card I used:

Backing Paper from Daisy & Dandelion Paper Collection A5 Picnic Pack
Olive Tone Paper from Papermania Pack 6 x 6
Buttons and Ribbon from Stash (green buttons coloured with gold glitz it glitter glue) - think Ribbon was adhesive pack from Hobbycraft
Tyroler Edwin stamped image coloured using Promarkers (olive green, green, lime green, cinammon, cocoa, dusky pink, vanila, ivory and wings coloured with gold glitz it glitter glue)
Father's Day tag from Daisy & Dandelion

Here is card No.2 for Mr Hannah's Dad:

He does love a glass of vino or two particularly red, so this embellishment was particularly fitting! His Dad is fairly traditional so I didn't want anything two lovey-dovery or too modern. I'm not sure which one I prefer! Mr Hannah was very pleased...even more so that he got it for free! Here is a close up of the embellishment part:

To make this card I used:

Backing Paper from Daisy & Dandelion Paper Collection A5 Picnic Pack
Lime Green & Brown tone Paper from Papermania Pack 6 x 6
Buttons, Ribbon, embellishment from stash
Lime Green Glitz It! glitter glue used on brown ribbon and Gold Glitz It! glitter glue on bBrown buttons
Green glitter brad is from Papermania
Gold Lettering is from an Anita peeloff sheet

So I've managed to make three cards today - got to make three more tomorrow for orders from work colleagues. Busy craft weekend but I can't complain...I love what I do! Hope everyone has had a lovely Saturday.

Sketchie Challenge #5

It's Saturday again (boy don't the weeks fly by!) and time for another sketchie challenge over on the Let's Get Stamping group on Craftbubble. Here was Sharon's sketchie for this week:

And here is my card:

and a close up of Tilda coloured in with promarkers

I love this mix of colours and think they go really well together...quite a summery card I hope you'll agree!

To make this card I used:

DCWV Glitter Stack (again! steadily working my way through that pack!)
Papermania Cardstock
Tilda image coloured in with cornflower blue, aqua, lime green, green, blossom, ivory, vanilla, dusky pink
Ribbon from stash
Flower from Flora Doodles Daisy Box Blends Sunken Treasure, Teal and Brown with yellow card centre and green glitter papermania brad

Hope you like it!

Happy Birthday Dad!

It's my Dad's birthday tomorrow so I thought I'd make him a funky card instead of buying him one for more money than it would cost me to make two of these! Anyway, I really liked the colours I used and tried to keep it fairly masculine (i.e no pinks or purples!) but didn't want to be boring and just use blue/black/white. So onto the card! Here it is:

Here is a close up of the stamped candles image coloured in with promarkers:

To make this card I used:
Buttons & Ribbon from Stash
Papermania Greetings Stamp for the 'Happy Birthday'
Papermania 'snag 'em' stamps for the candles and cake coloured in using Cyan, Lime Green, Pumpkin and Yellow
Card is DCWV Glitter Stack
Card strips are from Papermania as well
Letters are from DCWV Spring Combo Pack

What do you think? Hope my Dad will like it...still got to make his father's day card for Sunday as well as quite a few orders to finish off for people at work. I used the mini easel Mr Hannah bought me to prop the card up to take the picture and I love it! I'd told him about other people having these cute mini art easels so he went and bought me one :o) Gotta love him!

Driving Test Card

A friend at work asked me to make her sister a Congratulations card for her sister for passing her driving test. She had no specifics but I knew her sister had recently bought a little dog so when I saw the embellishment and the pink car in Hobbycraft I knew they would be perfect for the card! The buttons and ribbons are from my stash and I made the text using a funky flower font - think it all works well...I am biaised though as I LOVE working with pink and black!

Hope everyone is well. Hoping to make another card this evening if I get time...I have had the most tiring day at work. One of the papers in one of the journals I am a Production Editor for, has received much press coverage see here for just one example of the news article so it's been quite a demanding day having to publish it...but well worth it!

Promarker Challenge #4 - Berry Red & Royal Blue

This week's challenge colour's over on the Promarker Challenge were Berry Red and Royal Blue - I was a bit unsure about this colour mix and found it sooooooo difficult to find a decent backing paper but trusty K & Company came to my rescue! Once the card came together, I was once again proved wrong about the colour mix. This is why I absolutely LOVE challenges - they 'force' you (in the nicest of ways!) to try new things whether it be a new product, new colours, new techniques...just love 'em love 'em love 'em! And those promarkers...boy are they addictive! Well worth the dosh. Anyway, onto my card (apologies about the picture...unless it's the weekend I make my cards at night when the natural light has all gone!):

Here is a close up of the gorgeous Tilda:

I've used all sorts of different textures this week - my cards always must be 3-D...I love to feel what's on my card (I'm not wierd I promise; just love different textures hehe!) I placed Tilda to the side to make a change and made it look like she is sitting on the big 'S' on the backing paper. I didn't feel the card needed a sentiment either as I think it would look too crowded...what do you reckon?

To make this card I used:

K & Company 12 x 12 Mira Indigo World Swirl Flat Paper
Blue & Red Ribbon from stash
Blue & Red Glitz It Glitter Glue
Cherry Tilda from Magnolia Stamps coloured in using Berry Red, Royal Blue, Light Blue and Ivory, Blush and Pastel Yellow. I used Gelly Roll White pen to create the gingham effect.

Hope you like it!

Die Cut Dreams Challenge # 2

Note to self: Susie's Challenge ends at NOON...repeat....NOON! Silly Han thought the challenge ended at midnight tonight but alas it was noon. Never mind, always next time! This week's challenge was to use at least 2 die cuts and at least one of them had to be pink. Here is my card:

And a close up of the Smirk (Naughty but Nice) stamped image coloured in with promarkers:

I made this card using:
  • Paper - DCWV Glitter Stack
  • Ribbon from American Crafts; Elements Premium Ribbon - Pink Essentials
  • Button from Stash
  • Die cuts made using Cricut Expression
  • Stamped image - Smirk; Naughty but nice collection coloured in using Pumpkin, Bright Orange, Cinammon, Shale and Blossom promarkers and glitz it 'gold' for her hair
  • Stamped sentiment - Papermania
Hope you like it!

Sketchie Challenge #4

Here was the lovely Karen's sketchie that we had to follow this week over on the Let's Get Stamping Challenge on Craftbubble.

And here is my card:

I am trying to make myself use colours and techniques I don't normally use, so instead of reaching for my normal stash of pink papers, ribbons and brads, I chose to use blues and greens and am happy with the end result! I wanted the stamp to tie in with the rest of the colours on the card and I thought to myself "When was the last time I saw a blue or green elephant?" so I decided to keep it plain and just colour the flower in!

To make this card I used:

Papers from K & Company, Hopscotch boy 6 x 6 pad (using light blue & light green glitz it glitter glue to colour the spots)
Ribbons from stash
Green glitter brads from Papermania
Blue & Green Card from Papermania 6 x 6 colour stack
Stamped Image using Daisy & Dandelion Set - Pickles & Onions with flower coloured in with yellow and lime green promarkers.

Hope you've all had a fab weekend, I've been quite spoilt by Mr Hannah over the weekend which has meant not much crafting. Managed to steal some time last night to make this card amongst some orders for work.

Promarker Challenge #3 - Cinnamon & Pumpkin

This week's challenge over on the Promarker Challenge was Cinnamon & Pumpkin and having received the colours I needed yesterday I got down to work this evening! I couldn't find a decent background that just had brown and orange on it so I had to settle for including a dusty pink as well..but I think you get the picture that the main focuses of the card are the orange and brown.

I used:

Card from DCWV Glitter Stack (so worth the money - the card is fab!)
Cutie sticker from DCWV Spring Sticker stack
Buttons and Ribbon from stash
Promarkers, Cinnamon & Pumpkin of course but also used blush, ivory, pastel yellow as well as blossom & pastel pink for her wings. I think you are really only supposed to use the 'core' colours but I wanted to tie in with the pink in the background and I don't think it detracts from the brown and the orange embellishments.

Here is a close up of Tilda with a cute little flower I added in:

I'm starting to get used to my promarkers a bit more...I often think there isn't really a 'knack' to it - if you think it looks good then so be it! I am enjoying them but I get very protective of them!! My boyfriend asked if he could use one to highlight something the other day and I shrieked at him to put it back! Lol! I ordered some promarker wallets from Joanna Sheen and they came today so all my pens are in order..I have 49 now....eek! I've got the colours for the next few challenges so my credit card should be safe for a bit!
